Entry Requirements Intermediate computer experience required.
Course Duration 2½ hours per week for 6 weeks.
Cost £70 (modules 1 and 2 taught together; this cost covers both).
Introduction Candidates taking module 2 will learn to use Windows to manage files and data on a computer and network.
Course Content ECDL logoThis module teaches the common functions of a personal computer and its operating system. The candidate shall learn to adjust main settings, use the built-in help features and deal with a non-responding application. He or she will also learn to operate effectively within the desktop environment and work with desktop icons and windows. The candidate shall be able to manage and organise files and directories / folders, and know how to duplicate, move and delete files and directories / folders, and compress and extract files. The candidate will understand what a computer virus is and be able to use virus-scanning software. The candidate shall also be able to use simple editing tools and print management facilities available within the operating system.
Career Prospects On completion of all seven modules you will gain the ECDL Certificate, awarded by the British Computer Society (BCS). This internationally recognised qualification demonstrates to employers that you are fully competent in the use of a personal computer and common computer applications, and that you know the essential concepts of Information Technology.
